Grab 2.0, User’s Guide
Please note: Callipygian Grab 2.0 is
currently in the experimental stage, demonstrating the use of Bayesian
classifiers and neural networks to learn what a relevant web site is. The code
base changes often and the current state of the project may vary slightly from
the descriptions and images seen here.
Because this software is in development, we will only
support a few specific platforms:
- Microsoft
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003
- WITH
- Microsoft
.NET framework, version 1.1 or later, with latest service packs
- Microsoft
Windows Installer (to install .msi files)
You’ll also need
- A PC
with at least 512K of RAM, 1GB preferred (though the software can throttle
down its memory footprint, it’s happiest/fastest when it has a lot to work
with)
- A fast
internet connection (DSL or better). The software just isn’t effective
unless it can review a lot of pages during its training process
- Microsoft
Internet Explorer 6.0 or later, if you want to start searches based on
browser history
- Several
GB of free disk space (for the database and Bayes
dictionaries)
Optional
- MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server (if you choose to store
the link database in SQL instead of in disk files)
